The greatest need for BRAVO members is in the role of interviewer. If you would like to serve as a BRAVO member but do not wish to conduct interviews of prospective students please indicate that below; we will follow-up as we have needs related to college fair representation, Bowdoin Book Award presentations and assistance at regional events.

Interviewer
Other Roles as Needed
Interviewer:
As valuable contributors to the annual admissions process, BRAVO members will conduct evaluative interviews for prospective students, who can request interviews from September 1 through December 1. Regional BRAVO chairs, who receive interview requests, assign interviews to willing members of BRAVO who are then responsible for contacting the prospective student, proposing a public location for the interview, and meeting with the student for anywhere between thirty minutes and one hour. After the interview, the interviewer must complete a brief interview report using the template provided by the Admissions Office. It is essential that interviewers are timely in accepting interview assignments, corresponding with students, and submitting interview reports.
In the Fall of 2024 we are asking domestic interviewers to commit to conducting one international interview in addition to those requested of you in your own region given the overwhelming demand we experienced last fall. All interviews are conducted in English and will be virtual. If you cannot commit to this requirement, please click below.

Volunteer Agreement and Member Responsibilities
BRAVO members are required to adhere to Bowdoin College’s volunteer agreement and fulfill the member responsibilities outlined below. These terms are included in the BRAVO member portal and are accessible to all active members at any time.
Click to read and agree to Bowdoin's volunteer agreement
As a volunteer for Bowdoin College, I understand that:
All student, prospective student, and staff information is confidential. I agree not to access, review, disclose, or use confidential student, prospective student, or staff information without specific authorization from an authorized administrator. I also understand that even when I am no longer a volunteer for Bowdoin College any confidential information I have learned must continue to be kept confidential. Furthermore, any breach of these confidentiality requirements will result in my immediate termination as a volunteer and may result in legal action against me.
I must comply with all policies and college rules applicable to staff as well as all directions from administrators and staff while serving as a volunteer.
I should read the college policies indicated here:
http://www.bowdoin.edu/hr/handbook/
.
As a volunteer I work without promise of compensation or future employment. Furthermore, I understand that assignments are up to one year, and I may be asked to review and agree to another Volunteer Agreement if returning in a subsequent year.
YES, I understand and agree to Bowdoin's volunteer agreement.

Click to read and agree to the BRAVO member responsibilities
As a member of BRAVO, I understand that:
BRAVO is open to individuals who received their bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College.
Contact information for members must remain current in Admissions’ records, and members are expected to make updates in the Member Profile tab of the portal whenever necessary.
Prompt correspondence is essential to BRAVO’s success, and members should make every effort to respond to relevant emails in a timely manner.
Members serve as an important resource for prospective students and families and should remain informed about campus news and offerings. In addition to consulting Bowdoin College’s online publications regularly, members can contact their regional chair, a member of the BRAVO National Advisory Board, or the Admissions Office if they have questions about a specific issue.
Members are ambassadors of Bowdoin College and should show enthusiasm for the institution and its offerings. However, they should not speak on behalf of Bowdoin College, discuss how decisions are made or an individual’s chances of admission, or comment on other undergraduate institutions.
Students may conduct Internet searches on their assigned interviewer or alumni they meet through BRAVO programming. Members whose online presence may conflict with Bowdoin's values should contact the Admissions Office with any concerns.
Members are required to disclose to the Admissions Office if they have been convicted of a felony or other crime.
There are certain expectations of particular significance to members who express an interest in interviewing:
Interviewers must step down for the season if they have an immediate family member in the applicant pool or if they might have other conflicts of interest.
Interviewers may not interview any student they have taught or coached and should not interview students whom they know well or whose family they know well either socially or through business. Membership in BRAVO is still permitted under these circumstances but we ask that you don’t interview this student yourself.
Interviewers may choose to inquire about an applicant’s transcript information in a general way if they feel it might be helpful in gauging academic fit. The Admissions Office neither requests nor requires this information be provided in interview reports. If this information is discussed in the interview, it is important to reinforce that an applicant’s transcript is one of many factors in an admissions decision.
Interviewers are discouraged from requesting detailed personal information prior to the interview and should instead rely on academic and extracurricular interests noted in the student’s interview request form.
Interviews conducted during the 2024-2025 academic year will be virtual
Interviewers must be sensitive to the privacy of applicants and their families. All information discussed in the interview should be considered confidential and should not be shared with anyone other than the admissions staff.
Within the portal, interviewers may have access to admissions decisions for applicants they’ve interviewed once decisions have been released. All information pertaining to admissions decisions is confidential.
Authorization to serve as a member of BRAVO may be terminated at the discretion of the Admissions Office at any time if it is determined to be in the best interests of Bowdoin College.
YES, I understand my BRAVO member responsibilities.
